What Is Your Happily Ever After?

Once upon a time...I listen in anticipation when I hear those words. I know I am about to be transported to another world where I can experience the struggles suffered by the heroine and yet, end up experiencing the classic ending, and they lived happily ever after. There is a story playing out in the sports world that could have started with once upon a time. Florida Gulf Coast University has surprised the college basketball community by coming out of nowhere or aka Fort Myer's, Florida to earn a spot in the Sweet 16. Their coach, Andy Enfield, along with his "lingerie model wife" Amanda Marcum (that is the moniker that the popular press has given her) left their lucrative professions so that Andy could pursue his dream of coaching college basketball. Tonight FGCU, under Coach Enfield tutelage, will play their first Sweet 16 Tournament.

I know for many, sports in general and basketball specifically, is not of interest but I find this story compelling because the Enfield's made an intentional decision to walk away from a life they had built to pursue Andy's passion. Together they have crafted a life that includes bringing out the best in young college athletes, community and family. It is rumored that the Enfields have made a lot of money in their work life and that is a good because as Forrest Gump says, "It's one less thing". But at the end of the day, money or no, they had to be willing to make a change and so far it is going well for them.

When you review your life and your dreams, have you been willing to pursue your aspirations, your passion?  What is your happily ever after ending?

Hugs,
C
