What Are You Going To Do With Today?

Prior to starting my own company, jokes about the drudgery of Monday morning was commonplace and prolific at my work place. While I laughed along with the group as the overused and hackneyed expressions were bantered around the office I never really felt that way about Mondays. Yet it was part of the Monday morning bonding ritual just like drinking copious amounts of coffee and Diet Coke to get the week started.  These days I declare that Mondays are simply another opportunity to accomplish my goals as I work to reach personal and professional milestones I have set for myself.

As a small business owner I do not hear my peers complain about Mondays. That is not to say that small business owners inhabit a carefree world of unicorns and Candy Mountains. The reflex banter these days is about the tight money policies of the banks, a dwindling client base or the lack of qualified workers. But in my opinion this is just a new twist on the old Monday morning clichés. Somehow business owners think sharing their dissatisfaction or misgivings about the "environment" of business is a bonding ritual, a ritual that I reject.

So today I share with you these thoughts. Whether you are employed or not, whether you own your own business or you work for someone else, whether you are healthy or fighting to regain your health, whether you have money or not, whatever you situation is in life, today is yours to craft. It starts with your thoughts and proceeds to the words that come out of your mouth. If you choose to declare today the day that will take you one step closer to your goals, to a life that makes your happy, it will be. If you choose to banter around clichés about your life then your life will become a cliché. It is your choice and it is my choice to live this day to its fullest.

Hugs,
C
