Are You Part Of A Value Drive Group?

My daughter, Kathryn, is the mother of a 3 year old and 10-month-old twins. She works hard as a full time mother and sadly the twins have been ill this week. This means she worked doubly hard to comfort them as she managed her home and cared for her husband and daughter Lucy. I am amazed at many of the young mothers I know. They run their homes better than seasoned CEOs and take seriously their commitment to their husbands and children.

This week, Kathryn has been preparing for Charlotte Mothers of Multiples Spring/Summer Consignment Sales 2013. CMOM is volunteer group that supports families with multiple births and twice a year they hold a sale. They sell everything from infant and children's clothes to strollers to toys for various age groups. It is a big event and is run with precision and expertise. I was amazed at the thousands of items for sale and to see the efficiency of the CMOM team in action. I was also heartened to see all the infants and children clothes and other gently used items being made available to other families at a great price instead of ending up in storage units or landfills.

The people of CMOM are making a difference to the families of multiples, to their community and the environment through this sale and their other activities. To live intentionally means to take positive actions that align with ones values and CMOM is definitely taking positive value driven action through their work. Each time I learn of a group like CMOM, I feel positive about citizens finding solutions to challenges in our country. Until this week, I did not know about this group. Do you have similar citizen groups meeting individual and group needs in your community? I would love to hear about them if you are willing to share.
